IISER Pune BS-MS Eligibility & Highlights 2025
IISER Pune BS-MS is offered as a dual-degree programme for five years. The minimum eligibility requirement for admissions to this course is that candidates must complete their Class 12 from the Science stream, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology subjects. BS-MS at IISER Pune is one of the flagship programmes of the institution. Moreover, in this five-year degree course, in the first two years, students are required to study all the disciplines, and in the third and fourth years, students can choose the disciplines in which they are interested. IISER Pune BS-MS Admission & Application Process 2026
Admission to the 5-Year BS-MS Dual Degree course is conducted completely online. Candidates are selected solely on the basis of scores obtained in the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), the single exam for admission across all IISERs, as secondary channels like KVPY and JEE Advanced have been phased out. The complete admission process includes online registration, uploading relevant documents, paying a single consolidated application fee (which covers both the registration and the entrance exam), appearing for the IAT, and participating in centralized counselling.
Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria: having completed Class 12 (or equivalent) in the Science stream with at least three subjects among Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology in the current application year or within the preceding two years, securing a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD).

Candidates are advised to review the official IISER eligibility criteria prior to filling out the registration form to avoid any issues during the admission process.
Step 1: Access the Central Admission Portal
Visit the IISER Pune official website or directly navigate to the official IISER Joint Admissions portal. While candidates can initiate the workflow via the 'Academic' tab on the IISER Pune website, all form filling and seat allocation take place centrally on the joint admissions portal.
Step 2: Account Registration
Register on the central portal using a valid email address and active mobile number to create user login credentials.
Step 3: Fill Application Form & Upload Documents
Log in to complete the online application form with personal, academic, and category details. Upload clear scanned copies of required documents, including Class 10 & 12 mark sheets, passport-size photograph, signature, photo ID proof, and category/caste certificates (if applicable).
Step 4: Consolidated Application Fee Payment
Pay the non-refundable registration and test fee online via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI:
- General / OBC / OBC-NCL / EWS: INR 2,000
- SC / ST / PwD / Kashmiri Migrants / Third Gender: INR 1,000
- Foreign Nationals: INR 12,000
Note: This is a single consolidated fee; no additional test fee is charged.
Step 5: Appear for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT)
Download the admit card from the central admissions portal and appear for the computer-based entrance examination at the assigned test center.
Step 6: Rank List & Portal Preference Filling
Following the exam, official scores and category-wise ranked merit lists are released on the central portal. Qualified candidates submit their institute and program preferences online.
Step 7: Centralized Seat Allocation & Admission Confirmation
Seats at IISER Pune are allocated through sequential centralized counselling rounds based on overall IAT ranks, category rank lists, and candidate preferences. Candidates allotted a seat must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) online to lock their seat and report to IISER Pune for final physical document verification and fee payment to commence classes.
