Many of these companies visit IMI for their campus placement drive for Deck, and others call the cadets to their office for a written test followed by an interview. Deck cadets must have sponsorship from a reputed shipping company for admission to the DNS course. The engine cadets undergoing the 4-year B Tech ME and GME cadets participate in the Campus Placement respectively. To prepare these candidates, comprehensive Personality Development Classes are conducted, and each candidate is put through a General Aptitude& Reasoning Ability Test. A round of internal assessment and a mock interview by a Chief Engineer are also conducted.

The IMU CET 2026 application fee is as follows:

Application Fee for Registration for BBA:

• INR 200 for General /General-EWS/ OBC (NCL) candidates
• INR 140 for SC / ST candidates.

For all other UG and PG Programme/ Research Programmes:

• INR 1000 for General /General-EWS/ OBC (NCL) candidates
• INR 700 for SC / ST candidates

The undergraduate courses at International Maritime Institute has a total tuition fees of INR 5.7 Lakhs. The entrance exam accepted is IMUCET and the passing criteria is 60% 10+2 . Diploma in Nautical Science at IMI, Noida is a one year course at the undergraduate level, the seats available at 1:20 and the level of the course is undergraduate Diploma which has a linear duration of full-time.

International Maritime Institute offers multiple post sea courses, which can be pursued by any maritime professional with prior sea-service experience. These courses are recognised by the Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW). Indian National Database of Seafarers (INDoS) is mandatory for all candidates which they may apply through IMI at least a month before the commencement of the course. The span of all the courses ranges from 1 to 15 days, depending on the nature of the training.

The Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) is a national-level admission test. The Indian Maritime University (IMU) administers computer-based tests (CBT) to candidates each year for admission to its 6 campuses. Candidates who want to enroll in the BE/BTech (Marine Engineering), BSc (Nautical Science), and Diploma in Nautical Science programmes must take the IMU CET. Multiple choice questions are asked on the IMU CET, which is conducted in English. The exam lasts for three hours in total. The format and number of questions in the IMU CET are different for admission to different UG, PG, diploma, and PhD programmes.
