CSE in KGEG with this rank is quite tough but other branches are easily available in kgec. On other hand I can't say much about IEM but one thing I know that IEM is more like a school rather than a College, that means no college life, also for CSE there are many clubs present in KGEC which are improving day by day. Now let's talk about the placements, so basically in KGEC if you are placed in one company then you are not eligible to appear in other companies placement drive if they are giving the same package on which you got hired in other company. For example, if company A hired you for 3.5 LPA then you are not eligible to appear in other companies which are giving package between 3 to 4 LPA but you are eligible to appear in companies who are giving more than 4 or less than 3. For placement rule of IEM, I don't know their policy so better you contact a IEM student. I hope this clarify your doubts.

Hello Antara Sarkar, if I may say so, your ranking is a bit on the lower side. You will definitely get admission in engineering but would be little tough to get CSE. This is so since almost every student gives this branch as the first choice and as a result of this the cut-offs are really stiff. However to help you I am attaching a link that will predict the branch and the college that you can get based on your performance in this exam.

The University of Calcutta continues to be among the top 10 universities in the country, according to the NIRF rankings released by the HRD Ministry, Government of India. You will be glad to know that the University of Calcutta has got the fifth rank among all the general universities of the country (including both government and private), as per India Today (August 10, 2020) survey. The University is just below Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Hyderabad, Aligarh Muslim University and Osmania
University and ahead of all other government and private universities of India. Kalyani Government Engineering College (KGEC) was established by government. Of West Bengal in the year 1995. KGEC is an autonomous institute affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam University of Technology (MAKAUT) formally West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). KGEC is among the top engineering colleges of West Bengal. It is one of the finest engineering institutes in the country, it is a community of learners, striving to educate the mind, nurture the spirit, and foster the development of whole individual. SO my first choice is University of Calcutta.

Truly Speaking, you'll not get a chance in Kalyani Government Engineering College with your rank in ECE. Don't get disappointed, your college never matters and as a student of KGEC (government college), I can confidently say that all government colleges are more or less same in West Bengal. So, focus on your study as well as your health in the next four years and you can land at any company or can pursue higher studies.

I think it'll be very hard for you to get admission in KGEC, but you should try in de-centralized admission procedure if that happens in this year ( due to covid-19). .
