NIFT lateral entry admission provides an opportunity of NIFT education to candidates who have completed their Diploma/Degree in relevant / related fields of Fashion Design & Technology for direct admission to the third semester of UG programmes of NIFT at NIFT campuses as listed in Annexure III. The candidates who have acquired Diploma/Degree will compete at an All India Entrance Exam to get lateral admission in the 3rd semester of UG programmes of NIFT. The cutoff for BDes in Textile Design at NIFT Bangalore is 701 for the year 2022. Admission to the BDes Textile Design programme is entrance based. Candidates are required to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam. NIFT cutoff depends on variables like seat matrix, category of the candidate, total applications, category, Common Merit Rank (CMR) of the candidate in NIFT 2023, and the popularity (or ranking) of the institute. For the General category, it is quite easy to get any designing specialisations except Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Design (M.Des.) at NIFT Bangalore with a NIFT rank of 70, as most of the designing programs has higher cutoffs than the cutoff acquired. Yes, NIFT Bangalore provides many scholarships for students who are officially enrolled in any course, including BDes. The scholarships available at the institute are designed to reward meritorious students who belong to weaker backgrounds. In order to avail a scholarship, students must fulfil the eligibility criteria and apply in a timely manner.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducted the NIFT 2024 exam in two phases. The 1st phase included the written exams GAT and CAT.

The written exams was held on February 5, 2024. The scores of the written exam was used to shortlist c candidates for the 2nd phase, which will include a Situation Test (B. Des programme) or Personal Interview (PG courses).

The Situation Test was held on April 13, 2024, while the Personal Interview was conducted from April 1-6, 2024.

A. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) released the NIFT 2023 answer key on February 22, 2023. The question paper for NIFT 2023 was also be released alongside the answer key. Candidates were also able to challenge the answer key and question paper on payment of a non-refundable fee of INR 500 (per observation/objection). The feedback given by the candidate against the draft key is used by exam officials to prepare the final keys. The final answer key contains the correct and official keys for questions asked in the NIFT exam.
