Our college provides a lot of knowledge, but the new course curriculum needs to be improved a bit.

Placements: Around 80% of the students from our course got placed through on-campus placements. The highest salary package offered in our course is 5 LPA, while the lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are mostly export houses. Top roles offered in our course are print designers.

Infrastructure: Our department has all the required facilities like weaving labs, surface design labs and fabric testing labs. The quality of facilities provided in the hostel is average. Water coolers and other maintenance facilities are provided by the hostel only.

Faculty: Teachers in our department are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They provide appropriate feedback to students when needed. The course curriculum is relevant, but our college needs to provide more practice hours for the students to explore more.

Other: I opted for a textile design course because it provides a lot of opportunities for students. Every year there is something new to learn and improve. Events and fest are organised almost on a daily basis in our college.

Other: Studying in NIFT had been one of my major goals as a teenager, however, my experience was far from what I had imagined it to be. The campus is indeed very well equipped with infrastructure, however, it just as important for a campus is backed by good faculty-- something which my department lacked. The teachers wore dead expressions no matter which time of the year. They appeared least interested in their students or enhancing their teaching abilities; being more than satisfied with the stability that their government jobs provided. The department showed no interest whatsoever in getting students placed despite harping on a so-called '100% placement record'. However, NIFT tag does have its benefits. One does land up with a decent job provided they have a strong portfolio and have graduated from a good center. As a professional, I did notice NIFT graduates-- most, not all-- to have an inherent competitive streak over students from other Indian fashion colleges. The campus life will be far from intellectually stimulating, however, if studying abroad is not an option for you, then this might well be the place to be if you're keen on making a career in fashion.

Candidates who have following qualifications are also eligible to apply:1) General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).2) 3 or 4 years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education after secondary examination /10th standard.

Entrance Test
Eligible candidates need to appear for the written test i.e Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) conducted by the college.
Situation Test
Shortlisted candidates will be called for Situation Test based on the score obtained in CAT and GAT.
Counselling
Admission is through counseling based on the rank obtained in CAT/ GAT or Situation test score and performance in Group Discussion/ Personal Interview. Selection parameters and weightages: CAT: 50% GAT: 30% Situation Test: 20% For candidates belonging to Foreign Nationals / SAARC / NRI category, admission is on the basis of SAT score. In case seats remain vacant for NRI category, students belonging to “Children/Wards of NRI” category with valid Common Merit Rank (CMR) can apply by giving a special NRI Test.
