NIT Jalandhar offers separate hostel facilities to boys and girls. There are ten boys’ hostels and three girls’ hostels. The facilities of the reading room, indoor games, washing machines etc. are available in each hostel. Internet facility is provided in most of the hostels. Other facilities like geysers, water purifiers and water coolers are provided in all the hostels. Students must effectively use common rooms that contain newspapers, literature, and other materials for indoor games. The hostel warden will set the common room hours on a regular basis.

Established in the year 1987, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology provides education at the undergraduate, doctoral and postgraduate level in the fields of Science, technology and engineering. Presently, as per the central government, this institute is named as Institute of National Importance. NITJ has over 12 different academic departments, which includes the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Physics and Department of Civil Engineering. Furthermore, this institute also offers PG Diploma courses in various fields of engineering, including chemical engineering, industrial engineering, thermal engineering and design engineering. On 17th October 2002, the central government gave this institute the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University).. .

Dr B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology has a total of 17 departments. These departments include Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Humanities & Management, Industrial & Production Engineering, Information Technology, Instrumentation & Control Engineering. , Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Integrated Teacher Education Programme, Integrated BTech + MBA programme with IIM Amritsar and Textile Technology. Interested candidates need to qualify for entrance exams such as JEE Main, GATE, MAT, GMAT, IIT JAM etc. Depending upon the course chosen to be able to grab a seat at NIT Jalandhar. Aspirants should also qualify for the basic eligibility criteria that is, the candidate should have passed Class 12 with 50% in aggregate from a recognised institute.

The cutoff trend for BTech at NIT Jalandhar has been increased in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for BTech under General category for AIQ was 10169. In 2022, it increased to 11547.

Similarly, the cut off changed from 14659 to 16506 for OBC, 65643 to 40521 for SC, 86192 to 67395 for ST, 11756 to 13749 for EWS and 349 to 262 for PWD. This is likely to continue, as the demand grows for engineering education in India. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.
