We have good faculty, hostel, and hospital facilities, & a safe campus life with all new equipment.
Placements: They provide fewer placements in the Visual Communication course. Only one or two companies are visiting. However, other courses have better placement opportunities. In my course, there are no direct placements, so students have to try on their own. Our staff members are connected on WhatsApp and inform us about companies and job updates whenever someone asks.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and hostels are good, and the Wi-Fi is also good. Labs are good, and we have a big library where we can go and get books anytime. The courses are tough, but the staff help a lot and give useful advice. They keep our minds clear and calm.
Faculty: Faculty members are very friendly. They teach every day and clear doubts whenever we ask. There are many functions, and the staff is actively involved with students. They dance and sing with us. They are not just faculty members but more like family.
Other: We also have cultural events in the college.

This provides a comprehensive, honest insight into campus life, academics, and opportunities.
Placements: Most recruitment is in GCL and Texco. Internships are offered in cybercrime, ethical hacking, and criminal law.
Infrastructure: There is a small section of books in the central library. Classrooms are very good, and there is an excellent infrastructure in the department. The hostel is very nice with a neat and clean mess, bathrooms, and rooms, along with top-level security in the hostel. The quality of food is very good.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and well-experienced. They are also very friendly and supportive. This course is very helpful for students who are preparing for CDS, SSB, UPSC, and other competitive exams. There are six semester exams in three years, and the pass percentage is 95%.
Other: Course is very good and helpful for preparing competitive exams. There is only one college providing this course in the whole of South India. The event is enjoyable. There are more than 15 scholarships provided in this college. It is the number one college in sports.

My review of this college.
Placements: The placement quality is really good. Students get placed in reputed topmost MNC companies, which will come for recruitment like TCS, Infosys, and Cognizant. The average package ranges from 3-4 LPA. The core companies have offered the highest packages of 35 LPA. Companies like GE, Flipkart, and Amazon also hire deserving candidates. The quality of companies coming to the university is also increasing by the year. The college does not offer internships. Students have to approach companies themselves and do internships by submitting a college bonafide certificate and a letter of authorization from the department.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities have both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned options. I have chosen the air-conditioned hostel as it has attached bathrooms. Toilets and rooms are cleaned every day. Non-air-conditioned hostel has attached bathrooms, so my mom insisted on choosing an AC hostel inspire of its high cost. It costs 1.6 lakhs per year, including the mess fee.
Faculty: The overall faculty members in core subjects are really good. The teaching methodology could be improved. Many faculty members are involved in research work, and they also help students as mentors. The majority of the faculty members are highly qualified, and many of them hold the ultimate PhD degree in their respective fields. Exams are really well-structured with a goal for the overall benefit of students. We've got cycle tests, surprise tests, model exams, model practical exams, and finally, the university exam. The structure makes sure that students know something about what they are studying. The course curriculum is excellent and spread over technical as well as non-technical subjects. The wise selection of languages and energy conservation subjects has helped students to widen their area of excellence.

B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication - Batch of 2026
4.4
5.0Placements3.0Infrastructure4.0Faculty5.0Crowd & Campus Life5.0Value for Money
B.A. JMC at SRM Kattankulatur.
Placements: Weekly alumni talks help students build connections with people in the industry. Most students graduate and get placed through referral. Packages vary from 3 LPA - 7 LPA again depending on campus placements or referral. Recruiting companies are The Hindu, TOI, and Zoho. Roles offered are journalists, editors, HR, PR, and communication roles.
Infrastructure: Classrooms have projectors, but ventilation can be a problem because there are no air-conditioners in this block. Labs have PCs, cameras, and microphones for recording and inbuilt editing software. Hostel food is good and hygienic, but in time is strict, and that can pose an issue.
Faculty: All professors are graduates in the specialisation they teach. Some parts of the course curriculum are outdated. However, most are relevant and tailored for practical learning. With a course like mass communication you need to think, most questions are subjective and need to have an opinion a reason, and research for the same. However, the pattern of the paper can be painful to sit through and write 5-16 mark questions.
Other: The course allows practical experience in different fields of journalism like media, editing, reporting, broadcast, etc. Mass communication has corporate roles like HR, PR, brand positioning/marketing, etc. The classrooms could be better (air-conditioning). Campus in itself is great, campus life, food street, events, open mics, etc.

BCA in Data Science - Batch of 2026

It has a good campus to explore. College life is amazing.
Placements: I am from the 2023-2026 BCA data science batch at SRM Kattankulathur, and honestly, placements have been pretty decent for our course. Around 80-85% of students got placed last year. The highest package I heard is 8 LPA, and the lowest package is 3 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Big companies like Infosys, Cognizant, TCS, Capgemini, and Wipro visited the college for placements. Also, quite a few students got internships, i.e., around 70% in companies like Zoho, Virtusa, and HCL, and some even through a coding platform.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure here is honestly top-notch. We have good labs, strong Wi-Fi in academic buildings, clean classrooms with projectors, and a huge library. There are plenty of systems for practicing coding. The campus is fully digital and pretty convenient. Hostel life is good too. I stay in the non-AC block, and it is comfortable and clean.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are approachable. If we are into projects or research, then they are willing to guide us. The course curriculum is relevant, with subjects like Python, R, machine learning, big data, etc. We also have guest lectures and workshops that really help us understand the industry.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) - Batch of 2026

4.0Placements3.0Infrastructure4.0Faculty5.0Crowd & Campus Life4.0Value for Money
Faculty members of science and humanities - B.Com at SRM.
Placements: In my course B.Com, almost 80% of students are getting placed every year. Students who are interested in banking jobs are highly likely to get a job as most of the companies that visit are banking institutions. Right after finishing B.Com, the highest package will be 3 LPA - 4 LPA. Internships are not exactly provided by the placement office in our college. Students have to search for internships on their own and the college will just approve it. Top roles offered in B.Com are analyst, accountant, sales analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: Compared to the infrastructure of the engineering departments, the classrooms of B.Com are average. Free Wi-Fi is available to all the students. Central library at SRM is the biggest asset of the college. Any student, faculty member, or research scholar can have access to the books present in the library. It is huge and massive and has books of all genres and related courses. The food in the canteens is top-notch. There are so many varieties of foods available for students of all sorts of ethnicity and the population is diverse.
Faculty: Faculty members of SRM, department of commerce are highly qualified and are really good at their stuff. The course curriculum is relevant but it is more theoretical than practical. The university conducts 4 exams per semester, that is, 2 CTs, (cycle tests) these are considered to be easy, then the modal examination, and then final. Semester examination difficulty level is moderate.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in pursuing a career in the finance field. B.Com helps to educate us with accounting, business, auditing, and marketing which act as the key components of finance. It would be great if my university could focus more on practical sessions for B.Com rather than taking it extremely theoretical.
