Established in 2006, the Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology (TIAT) is a private institution. Situated in Kandivali East, Mumbai, Maharashtra, the institute has been approved by both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) of the Government of India, New Delhi. Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology offers the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program, a B.Sc. program, and an industrial Science Diploma that are all accredited by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. A B.Sc. from TIAT (Mumbai) gives you fewer chances of placement than the Bombay Flying Club. The Bombay Flying Club gives 90% placement rates. Fees are almost the same in both institutions.

Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology provides a BSc in Aeronautics in two specialisations, namely Mechanical & Avionics. The BSc curriculum followed at the institute is divided into six semesters. In each semester, students are taught the theoretical and practical aspects of various topics related to the design, development, and maintenance of aircraft and aerospace systems. TIAT Mumbai is the first basic maintenance training organisation in India to have a full-fledged AR/VR lab. This aids student learning by enabling them to comprehend the aircraft systems and components realistically. The institute also has ties with various leading national airlines and international MROs to provide practical training and on-the-job learning experience to the students.
