The Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology, also known as TIAT, is an aviation training institute of Kandivali East, Mumbai. The college offers its BSc Aeronautics Courses (Mechanical & Avionics) in affiliation with Mumbai University and under the flagship of Thakur Shyamnarayan Degree College. The Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology is known for its flagship BSc and AME courses. The AME training course is approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. The TIAT AME course is a full-time, two-year certificate course offered in the following categories:
- B1.1 (Heavy Aeroplane and Turbine Engine)
- B1.3 (Helicopter and Turbine Engine)
- B2 (Avionics)
Further TIAT Mumbai has launched the first-ever Cade AME programme in India as a Training Partner of IndiGo (Mumbai) and Akasa Air (Mumbai). TIAT Mumbai also provides Actual Environment Training (AET) to AME students by conducting 30% of the practical training in CAR 145 Maintenance Organisations (Leading Airlines).
While the TIAT BSc Aeronautics is offered in the Avionics and Mechanical specialisations and is the first basic maintenance training organization in India that features a comprehensive AR/ VR lab that renders Aircraft systems and components realistically to students. TIAT has also established long-term partnerships with Car 145 Maintenance Organisations to impart practical training to students through AET.
