IITs Offering BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: The Artificial Intelligence course is being offered by a total of 11 IITs. IIT Mandi has joined the list of IITs offering AI courses in 2025. IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras joined the list in 2024. It is interesting to note that out of 23 IITs in the country, 11 IITs offer a course in Artificial Intelligence.
The oldest IIT - IIT Kharagpur started the new four-year BTech course in artificial intelligence (AI) in 2024, admission to which is based on JEE Advanced. IIT Madras has also introduced the four-year BTech course in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics in 2024. Out of the seven oldest IITs, four IITs are currently offering AI courses they are IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Guwahati.

No, there will be no spot round of seat allocation at any of the IITs after the completion of the last round of JoSAA seat allocation.
NO. Barch admisison in the IITs is based on JEE Advanced and Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). For Barch admisison t the IITs, candidates have to first qualify JEE Advanced and then appear for AAT.
Overall, 50-55% seats are reserved in IITs. The break-up of reservation is - 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 10% for Gen-EWS and 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.
How to Get Into AI Courses Offered by IITs?
To be able to pursue an AI course for IIT, candidates have to pass their 12th with at least 75% marks. Further, they have to pass the JEE Main exam followed by securing a rank in the JEE Advanced exam. Check details below:
- Performance in class 12: First and foremost, for admission to the IITs, candidates have to pass the class XII (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects and secure at least 75% aggregate marks. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates is at least 65%.
- Qualify JEE Main cutoff for JEE Advanced: Out of 12 lakh or more candidates appearing for the JEE Main exam, the top 2.5 lakh candidates are selected for JEE Advanced.
- Qualify JEE Advanced: These 2.5 lakh candidates appear for JEE Advanced, and only around 43,000 qualify the cutoff for IIT admissions. JEE Advanced is known as one of the toughest exams in the world.
