How to calculate JEE Main 2026 Percentile from Marks out of 300?

To calculate JEE Main percentile 2026 from your marks out of 300, you would need the following details:

  1. Your score in the exam out of 300
  2. Number of candidates who have scored less than or equal to you in your shift
  3. Total number of candidates who have appeared in your shift

Only the first data is readily available. However, the rest of the two data sets are hardly available. Therefore, the calculation of the exact percentile score becomes very difficult.

NTA uses the following formula to calculate the NTA score (percentile score) from the raw marks of the candidates:

The raw scores of the candidates are converted into a percentile score or NTA score in each subject. The total marks out of 300 are also converted to a percentile score using the formulas below:

Q:   How much is 120 marks in JEE Mains percentile?
A:

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will declare the JEE Mains result 2026 in the form of percentile scores. Candidates can check here the previous year JEE Main marks vs percentile data to understand how much is 120 marks in JEE Main percentile.

As per the last year JEE Main marks vs percentile analysis, 120 marks would be around 95 to 97 percentile. However, the exact JEE Main 2025 percentile marks 120 would vary depending upon the highest number scored by the candidate in a particula shift and the total number candidates appeared in that particular shift.

Q:   What is JEE Main cutoff for IIITs?
A:
The cutoff for IIITs vary for various branches and also category of students. Specialised branches like computer Science and electronics engineering has higher cutoff in comparison to other branches. Similarly, JEE Main cutoff for general category candidates is higher in comparison to OBC-NCL and SC/ST candidates. Candidates can check the JEE Main 2022 cutoff below for some top IIITs and branches. For detailed cutoff report, candidates can check Shiksha page. It is to be understood that 75 percent marks is required for admission to institutes which include NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and IITs. Many institutes offer admission at 60% and even less, along with JEE Main. Candidates must clearly understand that the requirement of 75 percent marks in class 12 is only for taking admission in the institutes.

Q:   What are the types of JEE Main cutoff?
A:
JEE Main cutoff is of two types, one is qualifying cutoff for JEE Advanced and the other is admission cutoff for the institutes. JEE Main qualifying cutoff is released by the NTA along with the result and is in the form of percentile scores. NTA releases JEE Main cutoff for a total of six categories which include unreserved (CRL), Gen-EWS, Open-PwD, OBC-NCL, SC and ST. JEE Main admission cutoff is released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority JoSAA and is in the form of All India Rank.
Q:   What is JEE Main cutoff for NITs?
A:

The cutoff for NITs vary for various branches and also category of students. Specialised branches like computer Science and electronics engineering has higher cutoff in comparison to other branches. Similarly, JEE Main cutoff for general category candidates is higher in comparison to OBC-NCL and SC, ST candidates.
