How I Discovered Engineering and the World of JEE
I was an enthusiastic, eager, and impatient type of student in school. Earlier, I had no idea about Engineering, JEE Main, or JEE Advanced. One day, I saw my friends solving problems in books such as H.C. Verma and Irodov. ‘Engineering’ was written on each of these books. I was curious to know about it. So, I researched it and discovered about JEE Main and Advanced. I was confused, so I asked one of my teachers about it. This is how I got to know about Engineering, BTech, and various entrance exams for admission to reputable institutions such as IITs, NITs, or IIITs. I decided to pursue a BTech degree.
A Year’s Drop, Lessons Learned, and a Different Path Forward
It was very late when I got all this information. My Class 12 started at that time, and I was under huge pressure due to board exams. I had to put board exams at the top of the priority list as my family had high expectations of me. After clearing the board exams, I started focusing on the JEE Main exams, but the registration dates for that session had passed. So, I convinced my parents to allow me to take a drop year and started preparing for the next year.
I joined an offline coaching for preparation. I paid INR 35,000 as the annual fee. However, after only a few days, I realised that I had made a mistake, as the teachers there were not good. I could not clear the JEE Advanced exam. But, somehow, I managed to score well in the JEE Main. I appeared for the UPTAC counselling for admission to colleges under AKTU and got Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University.

I did not take admission to that college and selected Nitra Technical Campus in the choice filling as it is a Government-Aided institute and it is in the NCR region. The reviews for placements were also good and the campus is spacious with greenery all around. The fee structure is affordable, and I got a scholarship from the UP government. Our classes are conducted from 9 AM to 5 PM. The faculty members are very good.
The worth of the University is determined by the placements offered at the end of course completion. The University has released the annual report 2023-24 which includes the 2024 placement data. Check the complete insights of AKTU placements 2024 from the table below:
| Particulars | Placement Statistics (2024) |
|---|---|
| Students placements | 13,898 |
| Total job opportunities | 6,000+ |
| No. of campus drives | 150+ |
There are no extracurricular activities performed in this college. The college hosts only a few events: a freshers’ party, a farewell party, and a coding competition organised by the seniors. The priority of this college is to give quality knowledge to all students. This was one of the reasons I chose this college, as I did not want to waste my time on such activities. The college does not offer breaks as other colleges do, where students typically get one or two months off.
Many textile research associations are connected to the college. These associations are under the Ministry of Textiles. This helps the students from the textile branch get the industry-relevant curriculum. They get placements in top companies such as Oswal and Raymond. In the future, I want to represent this college as the recipient of its highest placement package.

Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. Several students clear JEE Main while in class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.
