Big IT companies such as Wipro and HCL plan 70:30 ratio of on-campus to off-campus hiring this year.

IT firms, Wipro, HCL to hire off-campusAround 1.5 lakh students got job offers from Indian IT companies last year. But even as students pin their hopes on placements in August-September this year, IT companies are planning to go slow on campus hiring, as per news reports.

In a measured approach to hiring, Wipro has restrategised its previously decided on-campus to off-campus hiring ratio of 90:10 to make it 70:30. Nasscom President Som Mittal told Economic times that off campus hiring is gaining traction especially in large IT firms cautious of taking long term business decisions. It helps them to take need based decisions. The Nasscomm predicts the growth of IT-BPO sector at 11-14% this year down from 16% last year while Infosys has been given a revised projection of 5%.
