JEE Main 2021 January session: Is the exam on schedule?
Confused about JEE Main 2021 January session? Here are all the latest details you need to know about JEE Main 2021 exam.
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the JEE Main exam in two sessions. The first session of JEE Main is conducted in January while the second session is conducted in April. Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus and lockdown across the country, the examination authority had to postpone the April exam twice. After many debates and discussions, the exam was successfully conducted from September 1 to 6 in computer-based mode which was five months late from its usual schedule. In the same way, the JEE Advanced 2020 exam was conducted a few weeks later on September 27.
The JoSAA counselling for admissions to NITs, IITs, IIITs and CFTIs is still going on. If compared to previous years, the exam notification usually releases in the last week of September or first week of October. However, this year, as the schedule was changed, the notification for JEE Main 2021 is now expected to be released after JoSAA counselling gets over on November 14.
Therefore, if the JEE Main 2021 notification releases late, then the JEE Main registration for January session will also be delayed which would also affect the 2021 January exam schedule. The JEE Main 2021 January session might be held in the last week of January or February depending on the prevailing situations.
Earlier, the NTA Director had also stated that the JEE Main 2021 dates will be impacted by the reopening of schools and boards exam schedule. Therefore, it would be a challenging task for the authorities to conduct the exam where millions of JEE Main aspirants participate every year.
NTA conducted JEE Main 2020 and JEE Advanced 2020 in September instead of April-May. Out of the total, 6.35 lakh candidates have qualified in the JEE Main 2020 exam whereas, in JEE Advanced 2020, a total of 43,204 candidates has qualified the entrance test for admission to IITs.
The authority has also been taking different measures for students to combat the loss due to COVID-19 and steps for the smooth running of the exam. In a recent meeting, the Joint Seat Allocation Board (JAB) has announced that all those candidates who had missed the JEE Advanced 2020 exam will be allowed to appear in next year.
JEE Main 2021 application form will be released on its official website. Candidates are advised to check JEE Main eligibility criteria before applying. The application form will include simple steps like registration, filling all personal and academic details, uploading required documents, payment of fee and printout of the confirmation page. No offline applications will be made available to the candidates. The authority will open the correction window for a week to edit or modify details in the filled-in application form. All the eligible candidates will be issued JEE Main admit card to appear in the exam.
