How I chose my college and course: Lakshay Saini
Choosing Science as my stream of study in School was one of the toughest decisions I have ever made. I was very sure of opting this stream but when the time arrived where I actually had to choose the stream, I got confused between Science and Commerce. However, after analyzing my interests and knowledge, I finally picked Science. My family played a huge role in this. They have always been at my back and encouraged me to pursue whatever I wanted to do.
Everything was new and different once I entered Class XI. Most of the students in the class had already enrolled themselves in coaching classes for entrance exams after Class XII. I thought, everything would change now. From learning Physics facts to practicing Mathematics equation, I did not realise how time flew by in these two years. My teachers and teachers where my pillars of strength. They motivated and boosted my work no matter what.Β
I got extremely serious about my career once I entered Class XII. I used to spend a lot of time thinking about my career and the choices I was about to make. Even after knowing that there was and is so much competition in engineering, I chose the field.
My teachers and seniors shared all the information I needed to prepare for engineering entrance exams. This included tips to score well in both Board exams as well as engineering entrances.
I appeared for JEE Mains, JEE Advanced and IPUCET. After taking JEE Mains, I was confident but the results spoke otherwise. To crack all the three entrances that I took, I took a joined coaching classes near my residence. I was disappointed with the results.Β However, once IPUCET results were declared and I got my preferred course, I breathed a sigh of relief. I faced a tough time choosing the right specialization. I changed my opinions so many times but finally chose Electronic and Communication Engineering.
The first time I entered my college, everything was new and different. Like it is for everyone. But, I took half of my first year to settle down in college.
How did I crack my college admissions?
Getting admitted to the college of your choice is not an easy task. Only if you have a good entrance score, you can crack the process. It not, then itβs extremely difficult.
I got admitted to Indraprastha University, after cracking IPUCET. To qualify, I had to be very dedicated towards my studies. Although IPUCET is pretty easy as compared to JEE Mains. But the level is a bit higher than Class XII boards. For the exam, one needs to be study three subjects β English, Mathematics and Physics.
The dream of every engineering student is to get into any of the premier IITs(Indian Institutes of Technology). I tried too but could not get through. For admissions to IITs, students need to appear for two entrances β JEE Mains and then JEE Advanced. Even though I cracked JEE Mains, I could not qualify JEE Advanced. Β
At last, I got admitted to BMIET and I am very happy with it.Β
How do I spend my college days
College life is all about friendship, fun and studies. My friends and I attended classes together and sometimes took a break as well to enjoy college life. We spent a lot of our time in library and canteen besides classes. One of my favorite things to do in college was participating in College Fests, Freshers party and college social groups. If given a chance, I would like to add and conduct more social campaigns and programmes Β in my college. I feel that there should more of practical work than theory.
Academically, to be honest, I liked attending Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry classes.
My college has changed me a lot and has had a very strong influence on my current personality. Confidence, passion to do something new and seek knowledge are some qualities that my experience in college has instilled in me. As a student, I have become more sincere, punctual and well behaved. I have realised the value of time and money.Β
