The whole re-evaluation system might appear to you as a big mess...and soon the system will be out of sight...

Delhi University is planning to trash its re-evaluation system from 2013. But even after trashing the re-evaluation system, DU will still continue with the rechecking of the answer scripts. Basically, re-evaluation implies to evaluation of an answer sheet all over again by the examiner whereas re-checking implies to re-totaling of the answer sheets.

Officials at DU said that, SC in its judgment of August 2011 made it clear that it is the right of the examining body whether it wants to continue with the re-evaluation process or not. If the university is planning to do away with the evaluation process then it'll certainly come up with the new alternatives for students. In the new process, the examining body will ensure that the answer sheets are corrected twice by atleast two examiners to generate an errata free result. (Read more...)

Some of the faculty members at DU colleges are in favor of continuing the re-evaluation process. They feel that nothing can be as best as the re-evaluation process and if the university trashes the system then the students will be at loss.

President of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), Ajay Chikara said that every year DU receives about 45 lakh re-evaluation applications and the future of students will also be put at stake.

Students have also raised their voices and said that the university should continue with the system as this is the only way to redress their issues. Other faculties believe that the university can streamline the whole process by using other ways.
