IIT Gandhinagar Director to head Banaras Hindu University
Jain, a recipient of Padma Shri will hold the office of BHU VC for a period of three years
Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT GN) director Sudhir K. Jain has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Banaras Hindu University. Prof Jain will hold the office for a period of three years.
As per BHU, Prof. Sudhir K. Jain has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Banaras Hindu University Registrarβs office received a letter in this regard from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Sudhir Jain will take charges from Prof. Vijay Kumar Shukla, who is currently serving as the acting VC of the university. Shukla was appointed officiating VC after the tenure of Prof Rakesh Bhatnagar ended in March.
Jain who is a recipient of Padma Shri will hold the office of BHU VC for a period of three years from the day he assumes charge.
Prof Jain is a civil engineer, and an alumnus of IIT Roorkee and CIT and has also taught at the IIT Kanpur as a professor. Born in 1952, Prof Jain is currently serving his third term as the director of IIT- Gandhinagar. Jain has been conducting intensive research and development in the areas of seismic design codes, dynamics of buildings and post-earthquake studies.
