No more subjective questions in UGC-NET

If you are preparing for UGC-NET June exam, then here's a clue. UGC is looking at making the format more objective and do away with subjective questions.
University Grants Commission (UGC) has made some modifications in the examination pattern of the National Eligibility Test (NET). It has decided to remove the subjective portion of the paper i.e. the third and the only descriptive part has been turned objective for the NET aspirants.
A senior university professor in Lucknow University's economics department, Prof Mohd Muzammil has also shared his viewpoint and said that the centralized system of evaluation has become a biggest task for the UGC officials. Turning the questions from subjective to objective is a good initiative and it will also cut down the dependency on the external examiners.(Read full Report )
UGC-NET is held twice a year in the month of June and December and determines eligibility for lectureship. The result of the June exams are usually declared in the month of October and the result for the December exams are declared in the month of April. But they were delayed further.
The proposal for conversion of subjective into objective has been put forth by the commission's NET Moderation Committee. UGC chairman, Prof Ved Prakash has given nod to the recent proposal at a meeting which was attended by 8 other members. The main reason behind the postponement of result is the active method of evaluating the third paper.
The new format of the exam will come into effect from June 2012 and it also ensures more transparency and on time results declaration. Some of the NET aspirants were not happy with the previous pattern, and this may help them. UGC is also thinking of developing the question banks to help the candidates.
