Students can enrol in remote learning programmes at University of Madras (Madras University) all year round, from the academic year (June to May) through the calender year (January to December). The Madras University Institute of Distance Education offers instruction in a variety of subjects, including science, the arts, business, management, and information technology (IT). The University of Madras founded Madras University Distance Education (UNOM IDE) in 1981. Admission to Madras University's distance learning programme is merit-based. The admission to the courses is done based on first-come-first-basis. Hence, admission to this college is not tough. 

Candidates can access the TANCET admit card login portal for admit card download until the exam date. Typically, the exam date lies within 10 days of the admit card issuance date.

Bad sides of studying at NOU:

• Due to the distance learning mode, students lack interaction with the faculty. This can impact the learning experience of students. 
• Open universities such as NOU Bihar and Patna IGNOU often lack placement opportunities, practical training and exposure.
• Students miss out on extra-curricular activities, vibrant college life, fests, events, internships and seminars.

Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences provides the flagship Bachelor of Science (BSc) program, which provides a solid Scientific foundation to students. The course is available in various specializations, and is geared towards the Agricultural fields.
