AIBE XVI 2021: No books, notes or study material will be allowed in the examination hall from AIBE XVI 2021 onwards, the Bar Council of India (BCI) announced. The official notice released by BCI reads, “This is to notify that AIBE-XVI onwards no books, notes or study material will be allowed in the examination hall. Candidates can only carry Bare Acts without notes.” Earlier, the council conducted All India Bar Examination as an open book exam and carrying study material to the examination hall was also allowed.  However, the latest decision taken by the BCI to restrict candidates from using books while appearing for the exam may make the exam tougher.

According to AIBE (16) 2021 dates, the exam will be conducted on March 21, 2021. The application form was released on December 26 and the last date to submit the application form is until February 21. After passing the exam, candidates will be awarded a "Certificate of Practice" by the BCI. Candidates interested in pursuing career in law must note that according to BCI, the AIBE sets a minimum benchmark for admission to the practice of law. At least 40 per cent for general candidates and 35 per cent for SC and ST candidates is mandatory in order to qualify the examination.
