In a recent conversation with Shiksha, Anushree Sen talks about her experience of GD & PI process for admission at Indus Business Academy. She has talked about the questions asked by the panelists and also has a few tips for aspiring students.

Q1: What were the GD topics at the time of your admission?

A1: Most of the questions were related to current affairs like Demonetization. The other questions that were asked are - 'Is social media affecting our society?', 'Integration vs. Knowledge', etc.

 

Q2: What were your focus areas during GD preparation?

A2: My focus area was mainly communication, for example, fluency in language, pronunciation, etc. Other areas of focus were content, body language and gestures.

 

Q3: What methods did you use to prepare for your GD?

A3: My focus was to keep myself updated. Reading the newspapers daily and keeping up to date with the current topics is something I have done constantly.

 

Q4: Did you take any help (coaching centers/materials) to prepare for your GD?  If yes, please share the details.

A4: My faculty members helped me a lot. My friends and I used to have discussions on various topics.

 

Q5: How many panelists were there?

A5: I faced a panel of two in my group discussion. For the interview round, there were three panelists.

  Soft skills classes during my Bachelor's degree helped me prepare for my PI.

Q6: What were the questions asked in your PI?

A6: Following are the questions asked in my Personal Interview round:

  1.    What is marketing and sales?
  2.    Why do you want to do MBA?
  3.    Talk about any current news related to business.
  4.    What does your father do?
  5.    Which specialization do you want to pursue and why?
  6.    Where do see yourself after you have done your MBA?
  7.    What is your aim in life?

 

Q7: How did you prepare for your PI?

A7: During my bachelor's degree, soft skills classes were conducted. They were quite helpful for my preparation.

 

Q8: What strategies (books/reference materials/coaching) did you apply for preparation?

A8: I read newspapers for current affairs update. I used to do revision of the subjects that I studied during my graduation. For aptitude, I referred to RS Aggarwal and practiced its questions.

 

Q9: How was your overall GD & PI experience?

A9: It was very stressful but I enjoyed a lot. In the end, they provided me feedback and asked me to work on my areas of improvement.

 

Q10: What tips would you give to the aspirants appearing for GD & PI?

A10: Keep yourself updated with the current national-level affairs.
Solve aptitude from RS Aggarwal for practice and for PI or GD, you can go through a few YouTube videos that would be quite helpful in order to get an overall idea.

 

Q11: What is the lesser-known fact about GDPI?

A11: You also get to learn a lot of new things there. I was asked about the problem that occurred at Nalanda University. I had no clue about it but then they explained it to me and I can say that I got to learn something new during my interview.
