ISB & Coursera jointly launch two new specialisations

Indian School of Business (ISB) together with Coursera, an online education portal has launched two new specialisations, one for people in the IT industry, and second for people in the financial market sector. The new specialisations launched are as follows:

 

  • For professionals in IT industry: Business Technology Management (BTM)
  • For beginners in financial markets sector: Trading Strategies in Emerging Markets

 

The programs will be offered by ISB on the platform of Coursera. The first specialisation to be launched will be 'Financial Markets and Investment Strategy’, later in June. The program will lend a helping hand to the learners in designing trading strategies and techniques in the financial markets.

 

It should take about six months for the specialisations to be completed (keeping in mind an estimated workload of about 3 to 4 hours per week).

 

About the Programs

 

  • Business Technology Management

This program has been designed for IT professionals with the aim of allowing individuals to examine how technology works, keeping in mind the needs of a business. Through the program, the individuals will learn how they can make use of technology for a business’s innovation and transformation. The individuals will learn more about technology consulting, IT leadership and client facing positions in IT functions and the IT industry, and IT program and project management. The five course specialisation that candidates can expect to learn are:

  1. Digital Transformations
  2. Business Analytics and Digital Media
  3. Accounting and Finance for IT Managers
  4. IT Project Management
  5. Leadership and Emotional Intelligence

 

In addition to the above, participants will also acquire knowledge on IT domain, leadership skills, management, team building skills and functional and analysis skills – these skills will help them evolve as great leaders and managers.

 

  • Trading strategies in emerging markets

This program is beneficial for individual investors and money managers. The program aims at helping an individual in equipping skills that are required for developing, measuring and assessing his/her own or others’ strategies of trading. The four course specialisation that candidates can expect to learn are:

 

  1. Trading Basics
  2. Trading Algorithm and Trading Risks
  3. Trading Strategies - Back testing and Performance Evaluation
  4. Trading Strategies - Creating a portfolio

 

For the completion of the specialization Certificate, participants will be required to complete a Capstone Project. As a part of the project, candidates are expected to develop new trading strategies, use the tools taught in the course to evaluate the strategies developed by them, integrate the same with the current portfolio and create a plan for starting a hedge fund.
