It’s great when everyone appreciates positive changes in you: Taniya Kumari
My school life was fantastic till class 10th but after I opted for Science stream, I faced a bit of difficulty as Physics used to scare me. Although, opting for Science was my decision, later on I realized Science was not for me.
After my Graduation I was sure of choosing Banking as my career but was confused where to start from. Once I was reading a career guide I saw my institute’s advertisement in it. I read more about the institute on the internet and made up my mind to go for it but my parents were not sure about it. And it was not easy to convince them. It took a lot of my effort but I finally convinced them. My uncle, who stays in Delhi visited the institute and was fully satisfied about it. So he helped me in convincing my parents to let me pursue PG Diploma in Banking and Finance from TKWs Institute of Banking & Finance. My father came to Delhi with me for my Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds. He saw the campus, met the faculty member and was fully satisfied with my decision.
How I cracked my college admission
The admission process of our institute constitutes three rounds. The first round is online examination which test the candidates on their knowledge of Mathematics, Reasoning and English. The second round is Group Discussion and the third round is Personal Interview. I cleared all the rounds and got the opportunity to take admission here. I think for the online exam, if you are prepared for it you can crack it easily. In fact, 10 days are enough for preparation. I did the same rather than opting for coaching classes.
For Group Discussion your communication skills, confidence, the ability to handle your opponent in right manner and many more things matter. For personal interview, stay calm, listen the interviewer patiently and then answer, don’t let nervousness capture your mind.
This how I cracked my admission in TKWs Institute of Banking & Finance.
What I learnt in my college
Our schedule is very busy, we have assignments, semester projects, challenging tasks and many more. We have subjective and skill classes, I love to attend skill classes like global lecture series class. In this class lectures from Yale University are shown to us, which help us a lot in understanding the US market. In the professional banking communication class we are taught how to groom ourselves for the industry. We also have group discussions, individual presentations, activities emphasizing upon importance of interpersonal relationship in workplace and many more things. In business to business lending class we do role plays. Mock business meetings are conducted and we have sell financial products to clients.
I’m part of corporate relation team, whose responsibility is to conduct guest lecture session every Saturday. If given a chance I would like to be the class representative of my batch.
Before joining this institute I was weak at time management but we have so many tasks here that I have seriously started managing my time. We have group projects which have made me a good team worker and I think will be a good team leader also in future. My communication skills are improving day by day and that’s the best part. It feels great when everyone appreciates positive changes in you.
We are going for ASEAN tour also, it is an educational trip to ASEAN countries, mainly Singapore. I will do my best to grab this opportunity. I have been waiting for this opportunity since day one as Singapore being a financial hub will give us plenty of practical knowledge and we will have the chance to meet industry people from outside India.
