Students’ Speak: Good communication skills are the key requirements for most recruiting companies
In the personal interview round, detailed technicalities were tested. Good communication was the key requirement for most of the companies followed by precise detailed knowledge.
A batch of 65 students at Neville Wadia Institute of Management in 2019, we all had chosen different streams to study Master in Business Administration. While some opted marketing and human resources there were some who were interested in finance and international business. We all finished college and were placed. Of the 65 students, nearly 50 percent were placed as they fulfilled the eligibility criteria of companies visiting the campus. Companies such as Aon CoCubes, Talent corner HR Services Pvt Ltd, D Mart, Launchpad, Credit Suisse, iPlace, Brinks India, Future Generali, Gallagher, Neeyamo, etc., visited and conducted interviews.
In 2018, the placement ratio was higher. Up to 80 percent of the candidates were placed by the college. Most of these jobs were in the Marketing domain. The highest package offered in 2018 was Rs 9 LPA whereas the lowest annual salary offered was Rs 2.5 LPA. The average package ranged between Rs 3.5-5 LPA.
This year, too, most of the jobs were available in the Marketing segment followed by Finance and Human Resources. Companies from financial services, manufacturing, IT, food industry, clothing industry, private and global-listed companies were invited for campus placements.
Interview rounds were conducted starting with an aptitude test, followed by group discussion and then a personal interview. In the personal interview round, detailed technicalities were tested. Good communication was the key requirement for most of the companies followed by precise detailed knowledge. The candidate is expected to have up-to-date knowledge in current times.
During the interview round, few students faced problems with the current domain knowledge while a few had problems in communication. Basically, all-rounder students made it to the final round due to their adaptability to situations.
Hence, the overall placement from my college was satisfactory and the staff was extremely supportive of students to guide them and get students started on their career.
