Q. Congratulations on emerging as an INI CET 2023 topper! How are you feeling about your results?

A. I am absolutely elated! To get into one of the INIs is a dream for any medical student and to have a chance at all of them is a simply amazing feeling!

Q:   Can I get admission in AIIMS Delhi without NEET?
A:

The answer will be both yes and no. Getting into AIIMS Delhi without NEET is possible if applying for courses such as BSc, MSc, PB BSc Nursing, MD, MS, DM and MCh, among various others, apart from MBBS. Admission to all these courses is either subject to an institute-specific entrance exam or INICET.

However, if the ultimate objective is to crack AIIMS New Delhi for MBBS, a student has to go through the NEET UG entrance exam followed by the counselling process. If the ranking and score obtained in the exam match with the minimum requirement of the institution, the student will get admission here for MBBS, otherwise not.

Q:   How many marks are required in NEET to get AIIMS Delhi?
A:
If a candidate belongs to the General Category, he/she should aim for at least 700+, and in the case of a reserved category, a candidate should aim for at least 675+. This is with regard to marks. In case the candidate wishes to know the same percentile-wise, he/she must score above 99 percentile to secure admission to AIIMS Delhi. Until 2020, students with 650+ score were able to get admission to MBBS at AIIMS Delhi, but the competition has been rising every year.
Q:   Has AIIMS released list of INI CET 2025 test centres?
A:

Yes. AIIMS released the list of INI CET 2025 test centres. The test centres list was released along with the information brochure for INI CET 2025 exam. Candidates have to provide choice for INI CET 2025 centre while applying for the exam. A maximum of 3 options can be declared for exam city choice. AIIMS will provide the exact centre to candidate along with the admit card for INI CET 2025. Once allotted, candidates request to change the exam centre will not entertained.

Q. What motivated you to pursue medicine as a career?

A. Until much later in my life, I was not very interested in medicine. Since there had never been a doctor in my family before me, I never thought I had the talent and character to crack a medical entrance exam. However, my parents and brother suggested I pursue the subject when I finished high school. I began to get interested in the field once I joined the MBBS programme, and today I am totally enthralled by it. To get into one of the INIs is a dream for any medical student and to have a chance at all of them is a simply amazing feeling! My family always supported me in my journey to become not only a good doctor but the best one.

Q. How did you prepare for INI CET 2023?

A. My prep for INI CET 2023 and NEET PG 2023 was not very different. Since the syllabus and material for both are the same, I was basically prepping for both at the same time. However, a few extra points I took note of during INI CET prep were:

  1. Pay more attention to topics that have been previously asked in INI CET since they tend to recur
  2. Improve speed. NEET PG has 180 questions while INI has 200 (many of them quite confusing), at the same time. I was an avid quizzer during my college years so that helped me improve my speed.

I used the online platform Marrow for my prep for both NEET PG and INI CET, but also gave mock tests from as many sources as possible. I also read standard textbooks during my college years so that helped as well. Plus, little tidbits of knowledge I gained from quizzes, social media, etc. also helped!

Q. Did you have any specific exam day strategy?

A. I try not to study too much in the evening before the exam because it clutters the mind. My strategy in all tests has been to attempt as many questions as possible that I am sure of within the first one and a half hours or so. The rest of the time I try to make calculated guesses and rule out options in the other questions. I always try to be aggressive; even if I can rule out one option for sure or vaguely remember an answer, I attempt the question. I always trust my instinct as much as possible.

Q. What all challenges did you face while preparing for the INI CET 2023, and how did you overcome them?

A. When my mock exam grades began to drop in the middle of my internship, it was a little depressing. But I'm pleased it happened since it inspired me to improve my planning and avoid becoming stale. When I would forget fundamental facts or keep making foolish decisions, it would be annoying, but it's important to keep going, use the errors to identify your weaknesses and devote more effort to them.

My grandfather passed away a week before the NEET PG Exam. He always wanted to see me push my limits and become a doctor, so even though I was unable to study for a few days. However, then I appeared for both NEET PG and INI CET exam and I'm delighted I was able to fulfill his wish. He deserves praise for this achievement.

Q. Any message or advice for future medical aspirants?

A. Try to gain knowledge from as many sources as possible. Tiny tidbits of information I have gained from multiple sources have helped me a lot. Never, ever give up. You are bound to have setbacks and poor scores in mock tests. I started out with mock test scores of only about 50 per cent. Use them as stepping stones rather than as heartbreaking rocks. Cheers and all the best and most importantly, enjoy the ride!
