Cambridge University is all set to impart leadership training to Delhi government school principals. According to an official statement, around 30 Delhi government school principals and education department officials will begin their “leadership training” at the University of Cambridge from October 10, an official statement said. The training will be conducted under the initiative of the Delhi government for eight days with 30 Delhi government school principals and education department officials, a 14th such batch.

During their visit to Cambridge, the principals and officials will also visit three schools — Fulbridge Academy, Witchford Village College, and Chesterton Community College, to understand the implementation of policies on the ground, the statement said. “During the training, the principals will have an opportunity to meet education experts. They will also meet the principals and teachers of three local education institutes to understand how they are implementing the education policies of the country on the ground effectively,” the statement said.

The main objective of this training is to provide “global exposure” to the principals on the use of digital technology in classrooms, the statement said. It training includes developing leadership skills, skills required to manage high-performance teams, and innovative pedagogy used by the teachers for all-round development of students, the statement informed

“Principals and teachers of Delhi government schools are pilots of the Delhi education revolution. Their hard work and efforts have made the government schools the most preferred choice among the children and parents in Delhi,” Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said. He said that the principals should go to Cambridge with an “open mind” and “absorb the best practices” there. He said that a new research component has been added this year to “expand the horizon” of leadership training. “The University of Cambridge is known for developing the most unique assessment practices, and our school principals will get exposure to this and learn from it during their visit. "This will help us develop student-centric assessment practices that will reduce stress from students' lives,” Sisodia said.
