AICTE directs institutes to provide details on stipend scheme for vocational training of PwDs
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has directed all the technical institutions in the country to give a copy of the stipend scheme for vocational training of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The Council has also directed the institutions to inform the students, faculty and staff members about the scheme so that the needy may take the benefits of the scheme. For every trainee, the Ministry of Labour and Employment is starting a scheme for vocational training of PwDs with a stipend of INR 2,500 per month.
“Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India is implementing a programme for providing vocational rehabilitation assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through a network of 24 National Career Service Centres for Differently Abled (NCSC-DAs) across the country. Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour and Employment is providing stipend @ INR 2,500 per month per trainee for a maximum duration of 12 months to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs),” AICTE said in an official statement.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment is also proposing to increase the rate of stipend for which a comparative statement of similar stipend being paid by ministries or departments of government, need to be prepared for further consideration, it stated.
“In view of the above, it is requested to kindly provide a copy of such schemes which may be in operation in your institute for facilitating preparation of a consolidated comparative statement to the Directorate General of Employment,” said AICTE in the notification.
