The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has directed all the technical institutions and universities in the country to develop industry-ready course modules to enhance the employability of students. The Council has also requested varsities to interact with the top-notch industry associations to prepare the modules and also asked to give credits to students for these courses.
“You are therefore requested to interact with leading industries, industry associations for the development and promotion of industry oriented course modules, and credits may be given to students for completing such course modules. It will help in making students industry-ready and more employable. All universities may discuss the need for industry interaction and allotment of credits based on learning outcomes of students,” read the AICTE’s notification.
AICTE has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with industries and industry associations to develop industry-oriented and skill-based course modules and facilitate internship of students in industry.
“Industries are now coming forward to support in providing core technical skills, digital skills, and vocational skills in universities and technical institutes,” AICTE further said.
Earlier, Higher Education Regulator had announced that it has given a nod to implementing hybrid learning uniformity in technical colleges in the country. For this, the Tech Avant-Garde (TAG) has been appointed to mentor AICTE-approved educational institutions to transform from physical to hybrid learning centers.
The technical education regulator has also sent a circular to all the approved institutes and colleges addressing the vice-chancellors and principals about the hybrid learning centers.
Buddha Chandrasekhar, chief coordinating officer, AICTE said, “The reason for this circular was - COVID-19 pandemic radically disrupted every aspect of life, including education. This disruption left educational institutions clamoring for systems and structures that ensure a continuation of learning for all students. In this context, initiative by AICTE recommending Hybrid Learning in technical colleges to make them robust and lockdown proof which is much essential.”
