Gaming Innovation Takes Centre Stage: Finalists Announced for Innovate2Educate Handheld Device Challenge at WAVES 2025

The challenge attracted over 1,850 entries from students, startups, and teams associated with leading higher education institutions across the country, reflecting a growing synergy between gaming innovation and educational technology.

The Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has announced the top 10 finalists for the Innovate2Educate: Handheld Device Design Challenge, a key initiative under the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.

The challenge attracted over 1,850 entries from students, startups, and teams associated with leading higher education institutions across the country, reflecting a growing synergy between gaming innovation and educational technology.

An expert jury comprising industry leaders — including Indrajit Ghosh (Co-Founder, Eruditio), Rajeev Nagar (Country Manager, India and SAARC, Huion), and Jeffrey Cray (Co-Founder and Product Head, Squid Academy) — evaluated the submissions to select the most promising concepts that blend handheld gaming with learning outcomes.

The finalists and their innovations are:

Karnata Parva – Code Craft Junior (Karnataka): An interactive coding platform that teaches programming through gamified storytelling.

Vidyarthi – Smart Learning Tablet (Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh): A voice-assisted educational device designed for screen-free, offline learning environments.

Tech Titans – Smart Handwriting Learning Device (Tamil Nadu): A tool integrating traditional handwriting practice with real-time gamified feedback.

ProtoMinds – EduSpark (Delhi, Kerala, UP, Bihar): An AI-driven handheld device offering adaptive educational games tailored to individual learners.

Apex Achievers – BODMAS Quest (Tamil Nadu): A gamified platform making math learning engaging and accessible through challenge-based modules.

ScienceVerse – Interactive Educational Handheld Device (Indonesia): An innovative educational device emphasizing interactive learning experiences.

V20 – VFit (Tamil Nadu): A hybrid device promoting education and fitness through interactive gaming.

Warriors – Maha-Shastra (Delhi): A comprehensive educational ecosystem with quizzes, AI-powered tutoring, and multilingual support.

KiddyMaitri – Handheld Mathematical Gaming Console (Mumbai, Odisha, Karnataka): A gaming console rooted in the NEP 2020 vision, supporting foundational learning in native languages.

E-Groots – Micro Controller Mastery Kit (Tamil Nadu): A hands-on kit for children to learn microcontroller programming through gamified tasks.

The finalists will showcase their innovations at WAVES 2025 in Mumbai from May 1 to 4, 2025. Winners will be felicitated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the summit’s grand finale.

WAVES 2025 is set to be a landmark event for the Media & Entertainment sector, providing a dynamic platform for students, professionals, creators, and investors to shape the future of gaming, education, and digital media.
