Board of Secondary Education, Haryana (BSEH) has announced amendments to the rules governing corrections for student details such as name, father’s/mother’s name, and date of birth on official certificates, specifically for requests made more than three years after the certificate's initial issuance.

The changes aim to streamline the process while ensuring the authenticity of requested amendments.

HBSE Certificates - New Requirements for Name Corrections

Under the revised guidelines released by the Board, applicants seeking name-related corrections three years post-issuance must provide robust documentation. Applicants need to submit either:
  • Original school records without any cuttings or alterations.
  • Any two officially recognized public documents from a specified list, which includes a birth certificateresidence certificatePAN cardvoter ID, or driving license.
All documentation must be verified by the last school the applicant attended and submitted to the board office along with the applicable fee.

Stricter Guidelines for Date of Birth Changes

The rules for correcting a date of birth are different and depend on the year the certificate was issued.
  • For Certificates Issued from 2000 Onwards: An Online Updated birth certificate is a mandatory requirement. This must be supplemented by one other public document (e.g., family ID, PAN card, or driving license) and verified school records.
  • For Certificates Issued Before 2000: The process remains highly optional. Amendments in these older records will only be considered on the 'basis of merit' and require explicit approval from the Board President.
Officials stated that these updates were implemented, keeping in mind the interest of students, to provide a clear regulatory framework for managing historical data corrections.
