To ensure no students suffer any academic loss during this lockdown period, Madhya Pradesh Board has opted for WhatsApp to impart educational lessons to students.

With schools being shut down across the country as a preventive measure to contain further spread of coronavirus, several states are opting for various methods to help students continue with their studies. One such measure has been taken by Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) to deliver educational lessons to students through Whatsapp.

All schools affiliated to MPBSE are using WhatsApp to send educational content to 3 lakh students around the state amid lockdown. More than 65 percent of high school students are getting content through this social media app in the Indore division for nearly one month now.

As per the reports, in the Indore division, a total of 727 government high schools and 645 higher secondary schools are conducting educational work through 1,267 WhatsApp groups. Around 1.4 lakh students are receiving educational content through such groups.

Indore division joint director Manish Verma, while speaking to a media house said, β€œIn a bid to make certain that all students get education content, the department has been trying to make its outreach as much as possible via various modes for all.”

The Madhya Pradesh Board is also providing the same content to the private schools that are affiliated to the state board as well. Private schools are sending the same content to 1.2 lakh students through 5888 WhatsApp groups. The Indore district alone has 69 high schools and 95 higher secondary government schools having 513 WhatsApp groups and 19,500 students.

Meanwhile, 35 percent of students studying in MP Board class 9 to 12 are not receiving any educational content via WhatsApp group in the division. For them, the department is trying to utilize the local cable network to impart education.

Other than this, Doordarshan will also be broadcasting educational content for the MPBSE 10th Board and MPBSE 12th Board from today.
