Delhi School Admission 2025 Guidelines

Delhi School Admission 2025 Guidelines: The Directorate of Education (DoE) has released new guidelines for admission to government-run special schools in Delhi for entry-level classes as well as classes 1 to 9 and 11. The guidelines, issued in a circular dated March 6, provide detailed instructions for students wishing to seek admission to these institutions, including those transferring from other schools and out-of-school children.

Delhi School Admission Guidelines for Classes 6 to 9

Under the new guidelines, students who have passed the previous class from a recognized school will be directly admitted to classes 6 to 9. However, out-of-school children seeking admission to Class 6 will be required to undergo an assessment to evaluate their basic literacy and numeracy skills.

For students applying for admission to Classes 7 and 8 who have not studied in a recognized school, the DoE has specified that these students can be admitted based on a simple undertaking provided by their parents. Additionally, students applying for admission to Class 9 must have passed the previous class from a recognized school.

Age Criteria and Relaxation Provisions

The guidelines provide specific age criteria for admission to various classes in government-run special schools. These age limits apply as of March 31 of the academic year:

  • Entry-Level Classes:
    • Nursery: 3 to 7 years
    • Kindergarten: 4 to 8 years
    • Class 1: 5 to 9 years
    • Class 2: 6 to 11 years
    • Class 3: 7 to 12 years
    • Class 4: 8 to 13 years
    • Class 5: 9 to 14 years
  • Mid-Level Classes:
    • Class 6: 10 to 16 years
    • Class 7: 11 to 17 years
    • Class 8: 12 to 18 years
    • Class 9: 13 to 19 years
  • Class 11: 15 to 21 years

The guidelines also allow for a relaxation of up to six months in the age limit, depending on the class level and at the discretion of the school administration. Parents may request this relaxation, which will be granted at the school's discretion.

Delhi School Admission 2025 to Class 11 and Other Special Provisions

For students wishing to enter Class 11, the DoE has stipulated that applicants must have passed the secondary school examination (Class 10). Students who completed Class 10 from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) must have at least 50% marks in five subjects to opt for humanities without skill subjects, and at least 45% marks for humanities with skill subjects.

Special Provisions for Students with Disabilities

The DoE guidelines also address the admission process for students with disabilities. To be admitted to schools for blind students, applicants must submit a disability certificate or a Unique Disability ID (UDID) card. For students with intellectual disabilities, the DoE specifies that admission is only available for those classified under moderate to profound disability, based on IQ levels.

For hearing-impaired students, only those with severe to profound hearing loss (above 61 dB) will be eligible for admission. These students will undergo additional assessments, including PTA (hearing test) and IQ tests.

Preference for Local Students and Hostel Facilities for Non-Residents

The DoE has emphasized that priority will be given to students residing in Trans-Yamuna areas due to transport limitations. Additionally, while preference will be given to Delhi-based children, non-resident students can apply for hostel facilities if there are vacant seats after Delhi-based students are admitted.

The guidelines also state that students with siblings studying in government special schools will be given preference.

Online Admission Process and Draw of Lots

The DoE has made it clear that all admissions will be conducted online through the official website. In case applications exceed available seats, a draw of lots will be conducted to ensure fair selection.

These new guidelines aim to streamline the admission process and ensure that eligible students, including those with disabilities, receive fair opportunities to access quality education in government-run special schools.
