Goa Board Exams 2021 Syllabus Reduction: In view of the closed academic institutions, academic loss, delayed academic activities due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Goa Board is planning to reduce the GOA Board SSC and HSSC syllabus for the 2020-21 academic session.
The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Examination (GBSHSE) is mulling to reduce the syllabus for Goa Board 10th and Goa Board 12th for the academic year 2020-21 in view of the closed academic institutions, academic loss, delayed academic activities due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a senior official revealed.
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus delayed led to the imposition of the nationwide lockdown in the country in order to contain the virus. The 2020-21 academic session, which was supposed to begin from the first week of June, is yet to commence.
To make up the academic loss and lack of classroom teaching, the board is looking at the possibility of reducing the Goa Board Class 10 syllabus 2021 and Goa Board Class 12 syllabus 2021 and will consider views of the Principals' Forum and the Goa Headmasters' Association before taking any final decision, GBSHSE Chairman Ramakrishna Samant told reporters on July 8.
Mr Saman stated, "All stakeholders would be taken into confidence before we take a final decision. We will come up with a decision in the next few days."
The decision will help students prepare for the Goa SSC Board Exams 2021 and Goa HSSC Board Exams 2021. As per the Goa education department's order issued last month, schools in the coastal state will remain closed till July 31.
On July 7, Human Resource and Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) rationalised the syllabus for classes 9 to 12 for the academic year 2020-21 by up to 30 per cent to make up for the academic loss caused due to COVID-19.
However, the CBSE Syllabus 2021 reduction received a lot of backlashes. CBSE faced criticism after removing key chapters such as Democratic Rights, Food Security in India, Federalism, Citizenship and Secularism from school the CBSE Syllabus 2020-21 to reduce the burden on students amid the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. To this, the Board released a notice clarifying its intent behind the syllabus reduction. CBSE said the reduction or “rationalization” of the syllabus for classes 9 to 12 had been "interpreted differently" and that it was a “one-time measure” to reduce the exam stress of students due to the ongoing pandemic situation, lockdown and to prevent learning gaps.
