The ‘Mere Shahar Ke 100 Ratna’ programme was initially piloted in the Jawalamukhi Assembly constituency in Kangra district, where students from 50 schools participated in the coaching scheme. Currently, 220 selected students from the Jawalamukhi constituency are receiving merit-based coaching under the initiative.
In a bid to support talented students across Himachal Pradesh and prepare them for competitive examinations, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the ‘Mere Shahar Ke 100 Ratna’ programme. The initiative, aimed at providing free coaching to 6,800 students, marks a significant step in the state's efforts to promote education and foster opportunities for academic success.
Free Coaching for 6,800 Students Across Himachal Pradesh
The 'Mere Shahar Ke 100 Ratna' programme, in collaboration with CRACK Academy, will provide free coaching to 100 meritorious students from each Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh. The initiative, with an estimated investment of INR 34 crore, seeks to equip deserving students with the resources and guidance necessary to succeed in various competitive exams, including civil services, medical, engineering, and other entrance exams.
The initiative will also offer substantial concessions to other students. The top 100 students from each constituency will receive full free coaching, while the next 200 students will get a 75% concession, and 500 students will benefit from a 50% discount on coaching fees.
Selection Process and Tests in Schools and Colleges
To ensure transparency and fairness, the selection of students will be based on tests conducted in schools and colleges within each constituency. The exams will be open to students from Class VI and above. This process is designed to identify and select the most deserving students while ensuring that no one is excluded due to financial constraints.
The selected students will receive comprehensive coaching and mentorship from CRACK Academy until they reach their academic and professional goals.
CM Sukhu Highlights Employment Opportunities and Infrastructure Development
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized that this initiative not only aims to uplift talented students but will also create significant employment opportunities in the state. CRACK Academy has committed to establishing over 90 coaching centers, which will directly employ 5,000 people. Additionally, the programme will generate indirect employment, further boosting the local economy.
In addition to the coaching initiative, CRACK Academy has also pledged INR 1.5 crore towards the renovation and maintenance of the historic Ridge Library in Shimla. CM Sukhu directed the Academy to preserve the heritage value of the library while incorporating modern technology to improve learning facilities for students.
