Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, schools across the nation had shut down. Schools in Kashmir have now opened their doors for students of classes 8 to 12.
Schools in Kashmir have reopened on March 1 after remaining closed for nearly one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The students of Classes 9 to Class 12 attended school for the first time since March 9, 2020. Only those students were allowed to attend school who had been granted permission in writing by their respective parents.
Over 60% attendance was recorded in most government schools. The private schools recorded higher attendance as classrooms were bifurcated to ensure social distancing amid coronavirus norms.
Most private schools had sought no-objection certificates from parents, absolving the school management of any blame in case of any health issue due to the conduct of physical classes. Several schools had asked students to bring along medical fitness certificates on the first day of school.
According to an order by the government, middle school level classes (Class 6 to Class 8) are scheduled to reopen on March 8 while the remaining classes are slated to reopen on March 18.
Adhering to the guidelines issued by the authorities, the schools in the state are opening in a staggered manner. They have also applied an odd-even formula which entails having only 50% of students on campus on a particular day.
So far, the students from Class 9 onwards are open, however, teachers of the elementary classes (up to class 8) have been asked to attend the schools from March 1 itself. They have been asked to prepare for March 8 when the classes for students up to Class 8 will also begin.
Meanwhile, the JKBOSE 10th and JKBOSE 12th annual examinations will commence from April 1 in Jammu region. The detailed JKBOSE 10th Datesheet as well as JKBOSE 12th Datesheet 2021 has also been released on February 10, 2021. Students will be able to check the same on the official website of the State Board.
