JEE Main 2024 Exam Pattern: NTA will soon release the exam pattern of JEE Mains 2024. Complete details about the exam pattern, total marks of jee mains, the total number of questions, type of questions, marking scheme, and mode of conduct of the exam will be announced through JEE Main exam pattern 2024. Students preparing for JEE Main 2024 should understand the exam pattern to know details about the exam. JEE Main 2024 will exam consist of two papers, Paper 1 for BTech/BE and Paper 2 for BArch/BPlan. Paper 2 is further divided into two papers, Paper 2A and 2B, and is held separately for BArch and BPlan respectively. JEE Main exam is conducted online except for the drawing section of paper 2A, which is conducted offline.

JEE Main exam for BE/BTech courses consists of 90 MCQs carrying 300 marks. Paper 2A for B.Arch will consist of 82 questions carrying 400 marks and B.Plan will consist of 105 MCQs totaling 400 marks. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages - Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu in addition to Hindi, English, and Gujarati. JEE Main 2024 Exam Pattern FAQs

Check below for the frequently asked questions related to JEE Main exam pattern.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in JEE Main?

A:
The JEE Main question paper will have questions from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics as per the prescribed syllabus. Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. For each question in Section B.A. Candidate has to enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For Section B, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

Q:   How is JEE Main conducted, online or offline?

A:
National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main exam in online mode as a computer based test. JEE Main exam is conducted for three different courses; B.Tech, B.Arch and B. Plan. The exam for B.Tech and B. Plan is completely online while the exam for B.Arch is partially online and drawing part is conducted offline. The exam is held across various test cities in India and abroad.

Q:   Is there negative marking in JEE Main?

A:
JEE Main paper have negative marking of one fourth mark for every incorrect answer. In JEE Main exam, each question is of 4 marks and for every incorrect answer, one mark is deducted. No marks are deducted for unattempted questions. For any question, if None of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or dropped, then full marks will be awarded to all candidates irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

Q:   How many questions are asked in JEE Main exam?

A:
The JEE Main exam has a total of 90 questions from all three subjects. The exam has 30 questions each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 30 questions, 20 are multiple choice questions and 10 are questions with numerical value answers. Students need to answer any 5 out of 10 numerical value type questions whereas all 20 multiple choices questions are compulsory and no choice is provided in them. Students need to complete all the 75 questions in 3 hours.

Q:   In how many languages JEE Main exam is conducted?

A:
National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main exam in a total of 13 languages. The languages in which paper is conducted are Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi English and Gujarati. Students can select the language of their choice from the available options while filling the application form. The language of JEE Main question paper during the exam will be available in a total of 4 languages, English Hindi Urdu and the language selected by the candidates. The language of paper can be switched among these 4 languages during the exam.

Q:   Will there be any break in JEE Main 2023 exam?

A:
The total duration of JEE Main exam is 3 hours and the exam is conducted continuous without any break. Candidates are allowed to enter the exam hall as per the scheduled time and can leave only after the completion of paper. The exam will have a total of 90 questions from 3 subjects, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Students have to answer 75 questions out of 90 in 3 hours without any break. Also, there is no separate time for subjects and students can appear any subject based on his/her choice.

Q:   Can I change the language of the question paper during the exam?

A:
Question paper during the exam will be visible in English Hindi Urdu and the language selected by the candidate while filling the JEE Main application form. Candidates can switch the language of question paper between the default languages which is English Hindi Urdu and selected language in the application. In total, JEE Main is conducted in 13 languages and candidates have the option to select any language out of the available options. Candidates cannot switch the language of question paper between all 13 languages during the exam.

Q:   What are the numerical value questions in JEE Main exam?

A:
Numerical value questions in JEE Main are the questions for which the answer will be a numerical value. These type of questions have been added by NTA in JEE Main in 2022. In every subject, students will have 10 numerical value type questions out of which students need to attempt only 5 questions. In total, students will need to answer only 15 out of 30 numerical value type questions. For numerical value type questions, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

Q:   Do I need to attempt all the questions in JEE Main exam?

A:
It is not compulsory to attempt all the question in exam. Students can attempt any number of questions out of total 90 questions in the exam. Students also have internal choices in Section B of every subject (Numerical Value Type questions) in which students need to attempt any 5 questions out of 10. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which they can arrive at the answer/solutions. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left as incorrect answer would lead to negative marking. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in JEE Main that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.

Q:   What is the exam patter of JEE Main 2024?

A:
NTA will release JEE Main exam pattern 2024 in information brochure along with the application form. The pattern of JEE Main 2024 is likely to remain the same. As per the current pattern, JEE Main exam have 90 questions, 30 each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 30 questions, 20 will be MCQ and 10 will be questions with numerical value answers. Students will need to answer any 5 questions out of 10 in numerical value type questions.

Q:   Are calculators allowed inside exam centre in JEE Main exam?

A:
Students are not allowed to carry calculators inside the exam centre in JEE Main exam. Students can use the virtual calculator available on the screen during the exam. Virtual calculators will be available on the computer screen of students during the JEE Main exam.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of JEE exam? What is it all about?

A:
The difficulty level of JEE Main exam is a little high than the class 12 board exams. Students who are studying in class 12 can score good marks in JEE Main by studying a little extra for the JEE. Students who have studied NCERT textbooks of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics thoroughly can get good marks. The joint Entrance Examination, popularly known as JEE Main is for admission into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs for B.Tech and architecture courses in India.
