IIM Bangalore Hosts NOVA Unplugged 2025: 1,014 Students Join Digital Startup Initiative

The IIM Bangalore's NOVA Unplugged 2025 was the first campus immersion for students from the BBA programme, where students from 359 cities across 29 states participated in the student-led startups initiative.
Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has conducted its first campus immersion for students of the BBA (Digital Business & Entrepreneurship) programme named NOVA Unplugged 2025. 1,014 students from 359 cities across 29 states took part in the inaugural cohort. Nearly 80 participants with student-led startups are underway, out of which 65% are male and 35% are female candidates. Out of these candidates, the majority of the students are pursuing dual degrees primarily in B.Com/BBA (59%), followed by B.Tech, BA, and niche areas like B.Des, BSc Agri, B.Pharm, CA, CFA, and CS.
Prof Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director of IIMB, shared his delight after the success of NOVA Unplugged 2025, saying, Innovation doesn’t end at checkout—it begins there. He further highlighted the need for startups in order to innovate across the customer journey.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Digital Learning at IIMB, Prof. Vasanthi Srinivasan, spoke on essential 21st-century skills, underlining how strong communication, like effective email writing, remains vital for workplace success.
Utanka Sarma, Head of Alumni Relations, also addressed the people present at the event and highlighted the strength of the 30,000-strong IIMB alumni network, encouraging students to tap into its opportunities for mentorship, networking, and growth.
The event also featured a panel discussion on ‘The Rise of Creator CEOs—How Influencers Are Disrupting Traditional Entrepreneurship’, where several panellists including Jacob Chacko Mundapallil, Head of Marketing and Partnerships and Manjyoti Parasar, AI educator, student mentor, and content creator, discussed the use of data, direction and consistency in developing impactful strategies
