DU UG Admissions Round 2: 87,335 Seats Allotted, Over 27K Upgraded; 17,922 Candidates Freeze Choice

Second round has brought fresh seat allocations of 24,843 candidates; 27,314 applicants have been upgraded to higher preference colleges or courses. 17,922 students opted to freeze their previously allotted seats.

University of Delhi has announced results of Round 2 seat allocation for undergraduate admissions 2025–26 under Common Seat Allocation System.  87,335 applicants have now been allotted seats, including fresh allocations, upgrades, and frozen seats, exceeding official seat matrix of 71,624.

Second round has brought fresh allocations to 24,843 candidates, while 27,314 applicants have been upgraded to higher preference colleges or programmes. Around 17,922 students opted to freeze their previously allotted seats, confirming their satisfaction with their current placement and opting out of further upgrades.

DU’s Over-Allocation Strategy Pays Off

In two rounds, Delhi University has crossed 87,000 mark in total seat allocations, despite offering only 71,624 seats in its colleges. By over allocating, DU is looking to reduce impact of students withdrawing or not confirming their seats, a trend observed annually due to multiple admission offers from other institutions. 

System Stability: More Candidates Freezing Seats

Nearly 18,000 students freezing their seats in Round 2 shows growing satisfaction with allocations and reduced churn. With fewer students waiting to switch, colleges may begin to see more stable enrolment numbers even before Round 3 begins.

Candidates allotted seats in Round 2 must accept the offer between July 28 (5 PM) and July 30 (4:59 PM). Colleges will verify and approve applications by July 31, and the fee payment deadline is August 1 (4:59 PM). Those who fail to meet these deadlines will forfeit their current allotment and will not be eligible for upgrades in future rounds.

After the conclusion of Round 2, DU will release details related to vacant seats, and open mid-entry window for new applicants who missed earlier rounds. Round 3 allocations will follow subject to availability.
