The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has launched MA programme in Health, Gender and Society for innovative research. The course duration is of two years and aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the diverse health systems, infrastructure and policies that impact gender and family in complex ways.

The new course will have a dedicated internship and dissertation components that would engage students in research and professional practice in India and abroad. “This course will provide a fertile environment for nurturing creativity, critical thinking and curiosity so as to enable young minds to find solutions to social problems in the area of health and gender. We train our students to build relations with institutions that are engaged in ground-level work on problems related to health and gender,” said Dr Shubha Ranganathan, head of department, Liberal Arts, IIT-Hyderabad.
All those candidates who are interested to enroll in the course must note that the online application process for admission is now available on IIT Hyderabad website. Graduates interested in learning about interdisciplinary social science perspectives towards health and gender or those working in allied fields in the social sector, corporate, development organisations or research institutions can apply.
The institute will begin the classes for the course from August 2022. “This two-year MA course will create human resources to serve our ever-evolving and developing society and set benchmarks in the field of development studies,” said IIT-Hyderabad director prof BS Murty.
Meanwhile, the IIT Hyderabad and Mobis India have collaborated on joint research in the field of advanced automotive technologies. IITH will use its expertise in the field of Mathematical Modeling, Machine Learning, and Hardware prototypes for ADAS to address India-specific challenges in Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Hardware Resource Optimization techniques for Chassis Software.
