IIT Kanpur Admission 2021: Applications invited for FREE online course on cognitive robotics
The objective of conducting the course is to introduce students, researchers to this new field of robotics with the help of illustrative models, facts and relevant theories.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is now inviting applications for a free online course called Foundations of Cognitive Robotics, which could be beneficial for both students and industry experts. The objective of conducting the course is to introduce students, researchers to this new field of robotics with the help of illustrative models, facts and relevant theories, says the institute on the NPTEL platform. The course can be completed in a period of four weeks.
The course will be conducted by professor Bishakh Bhattacharya who is a professor at the department of mechanical engineering and currently heading the Cognitive Science program at IIT Kanpur. The professor is also the coordinator of Space Technology Cell, IIT Kanpur and the head of the Smart Materials, Structures and Systems (SMSS) Laboratory.
Participants can also obtain a certificate for the course by paying Rs 1,000 and taking an examination on September 26,Β 2021. Candidates must note that the course will be conducted from July 26 to August 20, 2021. For candidates interested in IIT Kanpur Admission 2021 the last date to enroll for the course would be August 2, 2021.
To enroll for the course, participants need to first sign in to the NPTEL platform using their Facebook, Swayam, Mircosoft, or Google accounts, and then click on the Join button on the official page. Upon clearing the exams, participants will receive a certificate consisting of the name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup. It will also have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kanpur.

The course has been designed by carefully maintaining a balance between biology, engineering and control system design so that it can attract a broad group of people interested in the interdisciplinary field. The following are some of the topics that will be covered:
- Introduction to cognitive robotics and human-robot interaction: Smart material
- Brain physiology and neural signal transmission: Architecture of the brain, and nerve cells
- Neural modeling: Introduction to synchronization models, and electroencephalography
- Intelligence architecture: Theories of intelligence, Kuramoto Model, and child-robot interaction.
