IIT Kanpur Placement 2020: Students bag international pay package of Rs 1.47 crore

IIT Kanpur Placements 2020: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, witnessed the placement of 460 students at the end of the first three days of its annual placement drive. According to the official reports, the highest offer was pegged at Rs. 1.47 crore per annum for an international location and Rs 82 lakh for a domestic package. Considering the ongoing pandemic situation, IIT Kanpur conducted its placement drive virtually. Last year, around 520 students were placed during the same period last year. The number of companies hiring from the institute hovered around 220 to 230 this year, compared to 300 last year.
The reports also suggest that the highest international offer this year was Rs 1.47 crore, down from last year’s Rs 1.5 crore. But the placement cell at IIT Kanpur claimed that many domestic firms have offered higher salary packages this year. Talking about the response IIT Kanpur placement drive received during the pandemic, in-charge of the placement cell at IIT Kanpur, Kantesh Balani, said,“While a student is sitting in his hometown, the recruiting firm is based somewhere else in either India or outside the country. The interviews and other tests for the students are being held online." “Students are doing well despite the pandemic. They have received and accepted offers of Rs 82 lakh per annum from domestic firms. Also, some students who have accepted international job offers will receive Rs 1.47 crore annum while working on foreign shores.” he added.
Over 1,000 students from undergraduate and post-graduate courses registered for this year’s virtual placement drive. The first phase of the drive will go on until December 9.
