The Mumbai University (MU) has announced that its A++ grade by the National Accreditation and Assessment Board (NAAC) will now be valid for seven years, as opposed to the regular duration of five years. Mumbai University has recently scored the highest grades in the state with the total marks of 3.65 CGPA in the NAAC grading. As per reports, the Mumbai University has become the best-rated public university in the state until now. The University's accreditation of A++ will be valid now till 2028. 

"It is a matter of great pride for the University of Mumbai, one of the oldest and leading universities in the country, to receive the highest rating of A++ grade from NAAC. The seven-year extension of accreditation to the University of Mumbai is a huge credit and an honour for its outstanding performance in the five-star category achieved in 2001 and the highest-ranked 'A' status achieved in 2012," Vice-Chancellor, Mumbai University, Dr. Suhas Pednekar told Mid Day.

“With a seven-year extension instead of five, the university will now be eligible for Grade One Autonomy as well as University with Excellence. At the same time, the New Education Policy will underline the university's position as a 'Research University'," he added.

Recently, the University of Mumbai along with the University of Delhi (DU), OP Jindal Global University, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and six Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) have secured positions in the top 500 Universities in QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022.
