NDMC, IIT Kanpur offer technical launchpad to start-ups to find innovative solutions for civic issues

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation in partnership with Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur has launched the 'CiTe-Civic Tech Innovation Launchpad'. A first-of-its-kind initiative has been launched to offer a technical launchpad to start-ups to present innovative solutions through a 15-day competition. The competition has been launched to address civic issues such as waste management, town planning and sanitation. The competition has been started in Delhi, officials said.
North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash said CiTe is a 15-day competition aimed to engage start-ups and innovators to present solutions addressing waste management, water management, town planning, and sanitation and hygiene.
The launchpad will support the top three ideas, which will receive technical and business mentorship at SIIC, IIT Kanpur, the statement said. Prakash said CiTe is a first-of-its-kind initiative to give a platform to start-ups and innovators to solve the civic issues of the NDMC. Start-ups and innovators selected under CiTe will receive up to Rs 25 lakh worth of innovation fellowship and prototype development support, with a chance to refine these solutions, the civic body said.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is a public engineering college that offers more than 60 courses across five streams. The institute ranks at 5th position for engineering and 6th overall as per NIRF 2019. Internationally, IIT Kanpur was ranked 291 in QS World University Rankings for 2020.
IIT Kanpur BTech admission is offered based on a candidate's rank in JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA Counselling. For MBA courses, the CAT score is considered. Students are admitted to MSc programme through IIT JAM. The institution grants admission to the MTech programme on the basis of the applicants' GATE score.
