COVID-19 Surge: Mysore schools shut until further notice
Last week, the Karnataka state government decided to impose the weekend curfew and extend the night curfew for two weeks in Bengaluru considering the increasing numbers of novel coronavirus cases.
Schools across the nation are being closed amid the ongoing pandemic situation and ferociously spreading novel coronavirus. In the midst of the COVID-19 surge, in Karnataka, Mysore Deputy Commissioner has announced the closure of schools for students from Class LKG to 10 from today onward, i.e. January 12. The notice also includes directions stating that Anganwadi centres will also be closed from today until further notice. However, in order to curb the academic losses, the Deputy Commissioner has instructed the schools to conduct online classes for the students.
Last week, the Karnataka state government decided to impose the weekend curfew and extend the night curfew for two weeks in Bengaluru considering the increasing numbers of novel coronavirus cases. The state government has also decided to shut down schools and pre-university colleges except for students of classes 10 and 12 for two weeks.
While addressing the media, Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka revealed that the government has decided to shut schools for all classes except for the class 10 and 12 students. Schools will remain closed for the remaining classes in Bengaluru. He further stated that COVID rules will come into effect from Wednesday night and there will be a weekend curfew for two weeks from 10 PM to 5 AM. However, essential services are exempted from the curfew.
Various states across the nation including Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Haryana, etc. have shut schools following increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
