COVID-19 Surge: Universities in Maharashtra to conduct examinations online
Announcing the decision on Thursday, April 22, 2021, the Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Uday Samant said that he also plans to request the state government to include exam-related work in the essential services category.
Maharashtra UG Exams 2021: Considering the ongoing pandemic situation and increasing COVID-19 cases in the state, 13 state-run universities in Maharashtra decided to conduct examinations for undergraduate students via online mode. Announcing the decision on Thursday, April 22, 2021, the Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Uday Samant said that he also plans to request the state government to include exam-related work in the essential services category.
According to the reports, the minister said, "There are strict restrictions imposed to break the chain of the COVID-19 spread in the state. Hence, we have decided to conduct examinations for undergraduate students, from first to the third year, online." He further added that he will also request the state administration to include some exam-related works in the essential services category. The decision has been taken after consulting Vice-Chancellors of universities.
Informing that several exams of Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Gondwana universities had already been conducted online earlier, he said, "We are also trying to inoculate students in the age group of 18 to 25 years. There are some 37 lakh students in all these universities who can be vaccinated at their respective institutions." The minister also informed that final decision in this regard is yet to be taken by the government after analyzing the situation of the state.
Meanwhile, the state has canceled Maharashtra SSC Exams 2021. According to the reports, Maharashtra 10th results will be declared based on internal assessment, but the process is yet to be decided. However, Maharashtra HSC final exams or Mah Class 12 Board Exams 2021 stand postponed. Reports suggest that the Board will announce new Mah HSC dates 2021 shortly.
