During a Rajya Sabha session, Dr. Subhas Sarkar, the Union Minister of State for Education, presented detailed statistics regarding student admissions in Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes conducted in regional languages. He highlighted that in the academic years of 2021-22 and 2022-23, the respective numbers of students enrolling in these courses were 245 and 683.

This surge in enrollment over the two years signifies a substantial and encouraging uptake of regional language mediums for technical education, reflecting a positive trend in diversifying language-based educational opportunities within the engineering and technology domains.

He also stated that the All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, has launched a program aimed at authoring technical books and translating them into several Indian languages. This initiative seeks to provide engineering materials (B. Tech/Diploma) in multiple languages, including Hindi and eleven other regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Malayalam, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Kannada, Odia, Gujarati, and Punjabi. These translated resources can be accessed through the eKUMBH portal.
