The CEEE initiative aligns with India’s national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, strengthening the engineering education ecosystem by improving teaching capabilities and fostering industry-readiness among future graduates.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) today signed a landmark Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to launch the Centre of Engineering Education Excellence (CEEE) — a major initiative aimed at transforming engineering education across India.

Supported through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding of ₹38.35 crore over four years from the Infosys Foundation, and in collaboration with IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur, CEEE seeks to upskill faculty members, especially from Tier 3 and Tier 4 engineering colleges nationwide.

The program will focus on mentorship in five critical domains:

Computer Science and IT (including Data Science and AI/ML)

Electrical, Electronics, and Instrumentation Engineering

Mechanical, Aerospace, and Energy Engineering

Materials, Chemical, and Biomedical Engineering

Civil and Environmental Engineering

The CEEE initiative aligns with India’s national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, strengthening the engineering education ecosystem by improving teaching capabilities and fostering industry-readiness among future graduates.

The MoA signing ceremony was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) T.G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE; Mr. J.D. Patil, President, INAE; Prof. Indranil Manna, Chairman, Board of Management & National Coordinator, CEEE; Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, Vice President, INAE; Prof. Rajive Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE; and Directors from the five participating IITs.

Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE said: "This initiative will mentor faculty members to become mentors themselves. Through recorded lectures and freely accessible online resources, CEEE’s impact will extend to all engineering institutions, catalyzing a widespread improvement in teaching quality."

J.D. Patil, President, INAE: "This is a historic moment aimed at equipping students with practical, industry-ready skills by uplifting faculty in Tier 3 and 4 institutions. We are proud to collaborate with AICTE and five leading IITs for this mission towards Viksit Bharat."

Prof. Indranil Manna, Chairman, Board of Management and National Coordinator, CEEE: "Achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047 requires bold engineering solutions to address challenges from energy to environment. CEEE empowers educators to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers."

The Infosys Foundation played a pivotal role in enabling this transformative initiative. Manisha Saboo, Trustee, Infosys Foundation, stated: "Funding is just one part; the real success lies in thoughtful design and execution. With CEEE, we aim to empower educators, enhance credibility, and create a lasting impact on engineering education in India."

Program Highlights:

Mentorship Model:

Hybrid learning through two-week in-person sessions during May–July and three-week virtual modules in December.

Resource Access:

A curated mentorship curriculum, recorded lectures, and model teaching aids freely available through the CEEE website for all engineering institutions.

Financial Support:

Stipends for mentees covering travel and accommodation, and honoraria for mentors from premier institutes.

The leadership collectively reaffirmed their commitment to upskilling 4,000 engineering faculty over the next three years. The broader aim is to improve pedagogical practices, enhance teaching-learning processes, and equip faculty members to address emerging challenges in engineering education.

As India progresses towards its 2047 vision, initiatives like CEEE will play a critical role in building a robust, innovative, and globally competitive engineering workforce.
