Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar urged PM to clear uncertainties surrounding postponed competitive and entrance examinations to be held for admissions to various courses and begin next academic year. According to the reports, while speaking at a video conference of the Chief Ministers chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 27, Haryana CM asked the government to remove the prevailing uncertainty around the commencement of various exams and delayed academic session.
Mr Kattar urged the Government of India to take quick steps to remove the uncertainty around dates of National Defence Academy (NDA)'s Combined Defense Services (CDS) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), JEE Main, and NEET examinations conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions into engineering and medical colleges.
JEE Main and NEET examinations were postponed in the month of March due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main as a screening test for IIT entrance exam JEE Advances as well as engineering entrance. However, NEET is conducted for admissions to undergraduate courses in medical and allied subjects. Earlier, both the exams were scheduled for the month of April and May respective.
According to the latest updates from the NTA, both the exams will now be conducted in June as the lockdown is extended until May 3. Earlier, the agency had announced May last week as the tentative period for conducting both the entrance examinations. Meanwhile, an official notification regarding the revised schedule is yet to be released by the testing agency.
