DTU Launches Yogi Goswami Clean Energy Laboratory to Advance Sustainable Innovation

DTU: The Yogi Goswami Clean Energy Laboratory has been inaugurated at Delhi Technological University (DTU) by Ashish Sood, Minister of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. Established under the Nodal Centre of Excellence in Energy Transition (NCEET), the laboratory has been made possible through the generous contribution of Prof. Yogi Goswami, a Distinguished Alumnus of DTU from the Class of 1969. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Yogi Goswami (Class of 1969), Dr. D.D. Aggarwal (Class of 1967), Anjali Sehrawat, Director, DTTE, Prof. Prateek Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, Prof. Narendra Kumar, Registrar, DTU, and Prof. Vishal Verma, Director, NCEET, DTU.

The Yogi Goswami Clean Energy Lab symbolises a significant milestone in DTU’s commitment to advancing the national vision of sustainability and supporting India’s Net-Zero target for 2070. Conceived as a hub of innovation, the Lab will foster collaboration between academia, industry, and society to develop practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions for energy transition.

Speaking at the occasion, Ashish Sood, Minister of Education, highlighted India’s clean energy milestones under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that the nation achieved its 2030 target of 50% clean energy share by 2025, five years ahead of schedule. He emphasised that DTU’s Clean Energy Lab will play a vital role in fostering academic excellence, research, and innovation to drive the clean energy transition.

The Vice Chancellor, DTU, Prof. Prateek Sharma, addressed and congratulated the DTU fraternity on the inauguration of the Yogi Goswami Clean Energy Laboratory at DTU. He emphasised the responsibility of engineers and scientists in ensuring that development becomes more sustainable by taking up research in such areas and implementing innovative methods of responsible development.

Q:   Is it worth pursuing BTech at DTU?
A:

DTU ranked 29 under the 'Engineering' category by the NIRF 2023. There are many IITs ranked before DTU under the same category. Also, it competes against the top-notch NITs and second-phase IITs in several specialisations of BTech. Hence, it is safe to say that DTU is as good as an IIT or an NIT in northern India. In fact, The Times Rankings 2022 ranked DTU number 1 in the Delhi NCR region for 'Engineering' category.

DTU BTech students are placed in top companies like Samsung, Microsoft, Zomato, and others. Also the BTech fee is not very high. To clear JEE Main, candidates must study according to the JEE Main syllabus and appear for as many JEE Main mock tests as possible.

As part of his visit, Shri Ashish Sood, Minister of Education, toured the DTU Innovation & Incubation Foundation (DTU-IIF) and commended the university’s impactful entrepreneurial initiatives. He assured that the Delhi Government will provide full support and funding to DTU’s budding entrepreneurs to further foster innovation and incubation.
