IIT Bombay Signs MoU with National Institute of Informatics

IIT Bombay: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan's National Institute of Informatics (NII) and BharatGen to strengthen international collaboration in field of artificial intelligence. This partnership aims to advance research on large language models (LLMs) with enhanced scientific reasoning capabilities.

Under agreement, three institutions will jointly work on developing multilingual LLMs capable of understanding scientific content across multiple languages. This collaboration aims to build advanced AI agents that can analyse and use scientific information from research publications, patents, technical reports and other scholarly resources.

As part of this collaboration, IIT Bombay, NII and BharatGen will promote exchange of researchers, faculty members, students and datasets to accelerate innovation in AI and strengthen academic and research ties between India and Japan. The initiative is expected to contribute to the development of reliable AI systems designed to support scientific discovery and knowledge sharing.
